Common Questions
What is the difference between the Mini Peel, CLARA Perfect Derma Peel and Deep Peel?
The Mini Peel is a quick, no-peel treatment for cleaning out pores, lifting pigment, and gently exfoliating the skin. It is perfect for treating acne, melasma, and for maintaining your results after a more intensive procedure. Downtime is zero days!
The CLARA Perfect Derma Peel is a medical-grade peel using the Perfect Derma peel system, that works well for pigmentation, uneven skin tone, pore congestion, acne, and skin texture. You will peel for 4-5 days following the treatment.
The Deep Peel is an intensive chemical peel used to deeply stimulate collagen and improve lines and wrinkles. The peel requires a CLARA Consult prior to booking because preparation is required before the peel and downtime is more extensive – 2+ weeks. This is an amazing treatment for all-over skin rejuvenation.
How do I prepare?
One week before your chemical peel, stop using exfoliating products (including retinol/tretinoin, AHAs, BHAs, and scrubs).
Minimize sun exposure in the weeks leading up to your treatment.
Come to your appointment well-hydrated and with a clean face.
Chemical peels are generally avoided during pregnancy.
The Deep Chemical Peel requires some specific Pre-Treatment preparation, which can be found here.
What can I expect during the treatment?
You will feel a mild tingling or stinging sensation for the first few minutes, and your skin may feel warm. We will have a fan available if you need it. For most peels, the solution is left on the skin when you leave our office.
What is the aftercare?
You will leave the office with the peel on your skin, and you will be given instructions for when to wash it off. You will receive a post-procedure kit with detailed instructions about how to care for your skin in the days following the peel application.
Avoid applying makeup the day of your peel.
Avoid sun exposure while you are healing, and apply and re-apply SPF!
Peels can be repeated every 2-6 weeks as needed.
