How do I prepare?
Come to your appointment well-hydrated and with a clean face. If you’re wearing products or makeup when you arrive, our cleansers are available in the office for you to use.
Schedule your treatment 2 weeks prior to a special event, to be sure skin is fully healed.
You may start an arnica supplement several days before your treatment to help minimize bruising.
We do not recommend Sculptra during pregnancy.
What can I expect during the treatment?
A needle or a cannula is used to inject thin ribbons of Sculptra into areas of volume loss throughout the treatment area. You will feel a tugging sensation when a cannula is used, but it should not be painful. Bruising, redness, and some swelling are all possible at the end of the treatment.
What is the aftercare?
If you experience bruising, you can use ice or take Tylenol to keep yourself comfortable.
You will be instructed to massage the treatment area for 5 minutes, 5 times a day, for the 5 days following the treatment. This helps to prevent bumps.
Do not apply makeup the day or night of your treatment. You can resume your normal skin care routine the day following treatment.
Sculptra typically requires two treatment sessions, spaced 5-6 weeks apart, and full results appear gradually over the next 5-6 months.
What is Sculptra?
Sculptra® is a dermal filler made with poly-L-lactic acid (PLLA). This filler is unique because it boosts your body’s natural production of collagen and restores volume throughout the treatment area. After treatment, your body will begin to absorb the PLLA and replace it with it with your own collagen, leaving behind natural volume. Your results will appear gradually and can last for up to two years. Sculptra is one of the most natural and effective filler options on the market, and one of our personal faves!
