Hydrafacial in winter, info by Clara Dermatology in Cary, NC

HydraFacials are a celebrity favorite for red-carpet, glowing skin and have been called the “Best Facial to Transform Your Skin,” but they are also one of the best things you can do for your skin in the winter. Winter weather is harsh on skin. With cooler temperatures outdoors and dryer conditions inside (due to heat), skin can feel sensitive, dry and very dull. One of the best things to do for your skin in the winter is restore hydration. But, removing debris can also make the skin more receptive to all the products that can help restore and maintain healthy, happy skin.

Who doesn’t love better skin in one treatment?

HydraFacial MD® signature treatment consists of a blend of ingredients that are used to deep cleanse the skin, extract dead skin and debris from the surface of the skin and pores and then hydrate and protect your skin. The treatment results in brighter, hydrated skin that looks healthy. Removing the debris regularly also makes the products you use at home more effective because they can penetrate the skin and reach the target they were made for.

The first step is Cleanse + Peel which deeply cleanses the skin will softening oil and build-up. The active ingredients in this step are Glucosamine, Algae Extract and Lactic Acid. This leaves you skin ready for removal of all the oil and debris.

The second step is Exfoliate + Hydrate which creates a radiant complexion and also prevents blackhead for several weeks following treatment. Active ingredients in this step include Salicylic Acid, Willow Bark, Honey Extract and calming botanicals. Finally, Fuse + Protect detoxifies, protects and hydrates with a blend of antioxidants, mineral skin conditioners and hyaluronic acid.

Each treatment can also be customized using specific boosters to help minimize fine lines, loss of collagen and brighten skin.

What is the hydrafacial procedure like?

Our Signature HydraFacial is a 30-minute treatment that uses patented Vortex-Fusion technology to gently but effectively clean the skin, extract debris from pores, and then infuse hydration and super serums (like a strong, but gentle power wash for your skin). A small handpiece is moved over the skin and creates a gentle suction to remove dead skin, oils and debris from pores; this is safer than manual extractions because the skin is not damaged or broken during the treatment. This medical-grade resurfacing is also known as hydradermabrasion, and is painless and safe in all skin types. Next the handpiece is used to infuse skin with serums with anti-aging and antioxidant properties to hydrate and improve skin tone and texture; it can even improve the look of fine lines and wrinkles. Super serums with specific corrective properties can also be infused, like salicylic acid to improve acne, or glycolic acid to improve discoloration and stimulate collagen growth. A Hydrafacial treatment increases skin firmness, reduces large pores, and leaves skin bright and clear.

Our 45-minute Deluxe HydraFacial adds a customized serum booster and LED treatment to help improve booster penetration, stimulate collagen production and improve circulation, further enhancing your results!

How do I feel after a hydrafacial treatment?

You feel clean, hydrated and glowing!!! The treatment is painless but you may notice a mild tingling sensation following the facial. Afterward, we will apply a soothing post-procedure cream and/or sunscreen to the treated areas. This treatment can be done regularly as part of your skin care routine, and is also a great way to maintain clear skin after acne or discoloration treatments.

Taking proper care of your skin after a HydraFacial is very important. While there is no downtime after the procedure, your skin may appear slightly pink or feel somewhat tingly for an hour or so after treatment. We recommend that you allow your skin to fully absorb all the hydrating serums from the treatment and rest for the remainder of the day. Makeup and other products can be applied starting the following morning. As always, we recommend broad-spectrum sunscreen be applied to your face to maintain your clear skin and prevent UV damage.

Hydrafacials are extremely effective on their own, and can also be combined as part of a treatment plan for specific concerns like acne, discoloration or anti-aging and rejuvenation. Get your HydraFacial Glow by scheduling a treatment or consult with your board-certified dermatologist if you’d like to discuss the best treatment package for your individual goals.
